Custom Short Sleeve Cable Knit Polo Shirt
One stitch language, three places to put your brand — an all-over rope cable body, contrast stripes knitted into the sleeve, and a logo embroidered after the panel comes off the machine.
Single-colour rope cable, front and back, from the hem rib to the collar seam. No jacquard, no intarsia, no second ground anywhere in the face — every part of the pattern on this polo comes from the needle bed moving, which is why it reads as texture rather than print across a room and why it survives repeated washing without a motif going soft at the edge. Narrow rope cables run in vertical columns up the body, over the sleeves and through the back panel, separated by purl gutters that keep each column upright instead of letting neighbouring ropes twist into one another. A rib-knit polo collar sits on a three-button placket with engraved buttons, and the short sleeve closes into a rib cuff that carries the contrast bands. Knitted at 12GG as standard, roughly 280-360 g per piece in combed cotton, cotton-acrylic, anti-pilling acrylic or a merino blend.
Three things are settled at sampling and they move the price more than the yarn does. First the cable width: a wider rope means fewer columns across the chest, so the same body width carries a bolder, heavier-reading face, while narrower ropes read finer and cost more machine time for the same panel — we send knitted swatches at two or three widths before the body programme is committed. Second the stripes: the contrast bands on the sleeve are knitted in by changing yarn carrier at set courses, not sewn on afterwards, so band count, band width and the gap between them are fixed in the programme and cannot be adjusted once the panels are knitted. Third the embroidery file: the chest logo is stitched on the finished panel and has to be digitised for knit, because the fabric relaxes back when the hoop is released and an uncompensated logo finishes a few per cent small and off-register against the cable columns.
What goes wrong at bulk on a striped cable polo is almost never the cable. It is the stripe grading: the same number of courses on every size pushes the bands up on a small and down on a large, so the stripe ends up at a different height against the sleeve seam on each size — we build a per-size stripe table rather than one stripe programme for the whole grade. The second failure is the logo walking away from the placket, because hoop tension drags a knit panel by a few millimetres; we embroider after the front panels are linked and pressed rather than before, and measure the logo-to-placket distance on the PPS in the same session as the wash test. Cable column alignment across the placket is checked at the machine as each panel comes off, not after linking. Buyers for this style are streetwear and varsity labels, golf and resort collections, school, club and team programmes, and private-label brands that want a cable knit they can brand instead of a plain one. Woven neck label, engraved or laser-etched buttons, kraft, ivory or folded hang tags, size and care labels and a Pantone colour card all ship with the development. MOQ 100 pieces per design, sampling 72 hours from yarn stock confirmation, bulk production 2-3 weeks after PPS approval, DDP door-to-door.

Why Brands Order This Silhouette From Us
- All-over rope cable in a single colour — the pattern is in the stitch structure, so there is no print or applique edge to lift
- Contrast sleeve stripes knitted in by yarn carrier change, with a per-size stripe table so the bands sit at the same height on every size
- Rib knit polo collar on a three-button placket with engraved buttons, settable in height and placket depth
- Chest embroidery digitised specifically for knit — pull compensation, knit-safe underlay and logo counters moved onto the purl gutters so the outline stays level over the cable relief
- 12GG at approx. 280-360 g, so the cable reads deep on the body without the shirt turning into a winter weight
- Real-time ERP portal tracking: live PPS, bulk knitting, and QC inspection photos
- Custom brand packaging: woven neck labels, care tags, and biodegradable bags
