Custom Football Christmas Jumper
Club stripes, a knitted number and a Christmas band on one front panel — nine stripes counted, not widened, so they meet level at the side seam and carry straight on down both sleeves.
A football jumper is judged the way a shirt is judged: from the terrace, at twenty metres, on a moving body. In the US the same garment is bought as a soccer jumper or a soccer sweater, and the build is identical — the words change, the stripe count does not. That is a different brief from a novelty Christmas jumper, because everything on the front has to hold its edge at distance and survive a wash cycle every fortnight. This build is one continuous front panel carrying seven bands from the neck rib down — a navy yoke, nine club stripes, a gold diamond band, the number and name block, a white chevron, a snowflake and tree band, and a 2x2 hem rib. The stripes are painted across the full panel width and masked to the garment outline rather than laid in per panel, which is why all nine run unbroken into the sleeves and every band meets its neighbour level at the side seam instead of being cut and matched afterwards. The number is knitted into the panel on a 10 x 14 chart, not printed or appliqued on top, so there is no second operation, no plastisol film to crack and no edge to lift in a domestic wash. Figures run from 14 courses for a chest placement up to 30 courses for a full back, and the club name sits on its own course band above the number so a change of name never means re-programming the figure. Twelve football and Christmas motifs are drawn at gauge as a starting library, and up to six yarns per panel are held as standard with thirteen as the machine limit. The portrait build is the same file: we re-index the photograph you own the rights to onto a 44 x 52 stitch grid at four tone levels and knit it as a mid-tone panel. What we will not knit is a named player, a club crest or a licensed character without the written licence on file — a crest is a trademark and a face is a likeness right, and a factory that will knit either without asking is a factory that will sell your artwork to the next buyer.
